Albert “Bert” Dokter, founder and executive director of Mission Possible’s Dutch sister organization, Mission Possible Nederland, is a familiar name to many of our newsletter readers, thanks to the many articles he has written over the years.

As of May 2025, Bert has stepped into a new role as International Director for Mission Possible.

Bert has served for several years as Vice Director alongside Ignat “Ivo” Ivanov and has been actively involved with Mission Possible since the mid-1990s. He and his wife, Marina, have lived and served in both Russia and Ukraine.

With Bert’s transition to International Director, Ivo now serves as Vice Director. He continues to lead key projects and also chairs the board of Mission Possible Finland.

Mission Possible operates through four independently registered organizations—in the USA, Finland, the Netherlands, and Sweden—all united in support of the same mission across Eastern Europe.

Let's take a moment to hear from Bert.

It’s been nearly 30 years since I was first introduced to Mission Possible. And it’s been 15 years since I officially became part of the Mission Possible family. I’ve had the great privilege of visiting all our facilities and programs in person.

What inspires me the most are our faithful teammates who serve in each country. Being known as a Christian can make life harder, so these MP workers endure some challenging circumstances. Authorities are often suspicious; inspections and searches can be part of daily life. The people our team members serve face severe struggles. Every shelter home for mothers and children is at capacity; unhoused mothers wait desperately for vacancies.

And still, our teams persevere. Their commitment comes from a deep inner calling. With enthusiasm, compassion, and unwavering values, they reflect God’s love in all they do.

It is truly a privilege to be part of this family and mission.  I hope you feel the same!
