The Dream House became a Reality

Olga Yakunina, a young beautician in Chelyabinsk, western Siberia, decided eight years ago to do something for abused and homeless mothers and children. She founded a shelter called “Mother and Child.” The shelter had no regular source of support, so Mission Possible got involved.

More than 400 families have seen their lives transformed over the years. Mothers have put their faith in Christ and are living with purpose. However, Their rented shelter facility needed to be bigger and more practical for the 20 mothers plus their children whom it housed regularly.

A step of faith had to be taken.

Purchase of an unfinished building  

A suitable structure was found in a good location close to kindergarten and primary school. But the building was only a frame of exterior and partition walls. Buying and finishing the structure would be time-consuming and expensive.

We agreed that Olga and her team would raise as much as they could from local sources, and we would provide the rest. The building was named Dream House.

“Dream House is progressing at the speed of light!”

This is what Olga wrote during the project. While others had more doubts than hope in the situation, Olga had faith and the ability to inspire others. Professionals and volunteers took part in the work, and funds were raised from churches, companies, and individuals. The building was inaugurated at the end of September, and the move to the new site began. This Christmas was celebrated in Dream House!
