Diana Finds True Love through Faith in God

Other Languages:

Diana and her son Sergey are among the many who have experienced transformed lives at our rehabilitation homes.

Knowing she needed deliverance from her substance addiction, Diana came for rehabilitation. There are not many rehab centers where children can accompany their mothers. Here's their story:

Diana's heart was hungry for love. She had grown up in an orphanage and foster home since the age of three. A broken childhood had left her with a deep longing to belong to someone.

When Diana met Vadim, she believed she had found what she was looking for. He was a drug addict, but she believed her love for him would bring him out of his addiction. It didn't. When their son was born, Diana hoped he would sober up for the sake of the family.

Diana's mother-in-law was her only support and security; she became the mother Diana never had. They both urged Vadim to go to rehabilitation. He wouldn't, and for Diana's and the child's safety, the mother-in-law advised Diana to divorce Vadim.

Diana did not want to leave Vadim. She wanted to please her husband, so she experimented with drugs with him. Within six months, she was addicted.

To save Diana and her child, Vadim's mother called Child Protection Services and the police. Little Sergey was taken into custody, and 22-year-old Diana was taken to emergency treatment. Once stable, she was admitted to a Christian rehabilitation center.

Devastated by the separation from her son, Diana was greatly motivated to turn her life around. At the Christian center, she turned to God and put her faith in Christ! Her condition improved, and it was agreed she could move into the Mission Possible center, where Sergey could live with her during the rehab program.

Diana was overjoyed to have Sergey back. He began healing in the safe environment alongside his mother, and he was fitted with special glasses he so badly needed.

Being involved with the church, knowing she was supported by the MP staff, and growing in friendships with the other resident mothers carried Diana through the grief caused by the sudden death of her beloved mother-in-law. At the funeral, Diana told her husband about Jesus, the One who gives new life.

Vadim is not yet ready to surrender his life to Christ. He has tried to persuade Diana to return to him but she has remained firm on her new path. She now sees that her desires and affection cannot free and heal Vadim – only God's love can do that.

After rehabilitation, Diana stayed in the same town because that is where her church family and a safety net of people who care about her are. An apartment was made available for her and Sergey, and he will be attending a kindergarten for children with eyesight issues.

When a mother's life changes, her child's life changes, too!
