“What’s Happened to You?”
The pendants on this bracelet are used to share the gospel with mothers.
A husband marvels at his wife’s transformation.
Many mothers in Bulgaria’s remote villages and urban slums have heard the gospel for the first time through the distribution of Baby Boxes. Ani is one of them.
Becoming a mother at the age of fourteen
Ani received an invitation to the church in the slum of Sliven, where our team held an event for mothers. She went with her three-month-old baby. At home, she had three older daughters. The eldest, 11, was born when Ani was only 14.
Ani’s husband was an abusive alcoholic who neglected the family. All the household responsibilities and childrearing fell on Ani’s shoulders. She came to the church burdened with worry.
She returned home a changed woman.
A few days passed. Ani’s husband wondered why, despite his usual criticizing and cruelty, she remained gentle and calm.
“What’s happened to you?” he wondered.
Ani then told him about the church meeting. She had received a box of lovely baby clothes and accessories, had listened to a message she’d never heard before, and had been prayed over. Hope and joy filled her heart.
Ani showed him the bracelet she’d been given and explained to her husband what each pendant represents. This is how the message of Jesus came to this home.
A Baby Box brought practical help and hope to the whole family.
The mother in this story – along with many others – has not met you, but what you have done has touched her life!
