Svetlana Came to the Church through the Laundry Program!

Svetlana's Son Now Attends Youth Meetings!

We met Svetlana a year ago under unusual circumstances.

One day, we visited the construction site of our new shelter home and found out that someone had been there and left a big mess. We learned that it was a young neighbor and his friends.
We went to his parents and found that they were a family living in poverty; they had four children and a father who drank almost constantly.

We spent some time getting to know the mother. Her name is Svetlana (‘Sveta’). She told us about her and the family's life. They collect water from a different street as their home has no water. Of course, we offered her the opportunity to bring the family's dirty laundry to our free laundry program, which is a free laundry we have made available to many families in the same situation as Sveta.

Since then, their family has been bringing things to the laundry once a week. After a while, her son (10 years old) and his friends started coming to our youth meetings (the same boy who had made a mess on our property). He has come with the group to outings and excursions.
Sveta herself has started attending church services and women's meetings. She only comes sometimes but wants to come more often when possible. Sveta is responsible for their home, and her youngest child is still little; she can't always get away from home. Recently, she said that her husband also began to wonder what time the meetings were, and sometimes, he asked Svetlana to pray for him at church. She said they would come to church together one day!
