Irina Keeps Her Baby after Receiving a Baby Box and Support

LUBA EPONCHINTSEVA, KRASNOYARSK

Jubilant and deeply sad - These were Irina's moods following the birth of her daughter. In addition to three boys, she now had a healthy, beautiful, delicate baby girl. Her mother's heart filled with both love and despair.

Irina could barely take care of her three sons, seven-year-old twins, and their five-year-old brother. How could she afford to buy food, diapers, and clothing for another?

She knew the boys would be happy to have a little sister, but she saw no alternative but to leave her baby at the hospital to be taken to an orphanage, as so many others are forced to do.

Distraught over her situation, Irina spoke to a nurse after the baby's delivery. We have been working with this hospital for many years and they call me in cases like this. Many mothers find themselves in Irina's situation for various reasons.

After the maternity hospital called me I went to see Irina. I encouraged her and told her that we would give her a Baby Box, a bed for the baby, and other support. To my great relief, Irina decided to keep her daughter!

It was a wonderful day when I went to pick her and the baby up from the hospital. I had a maternity kit and a pink sleeping bag with me. The brothers were waiting at home. Irina introduced them to their sweet little sister.

I will keep in touch with Irina and we will continue to assist her by bringing food and offering support.  I will also find out whether she and her children are receiving all the social funding they are entitled to.

Please pray with us for this family!

Help given at the right time can change an entire life.

Irina's baby was not sent to an orphanage; she will grow up with her own family!
