Joy Does Not Come From the Absence of Problems, But from Trusting the Lord!
We regularly visit the Ihtiman slum to deliver food, clothing, and Baby Boxes. Meeting with Ivan and Dancha is always a priority.
“How are you doing?”
“We’re fine!” Ivan and Dancha respond in unison. “Do you know how great it is to have a church in your own backyard? Whenever something’s going on, we step outside and attend!”
The family’s home is very modest: two small rooms and only a few pieces of furniture. It is muddy outdoors, but the faces of these two shine. Seven years ago, they gave up their yard so the church could have a site to build a house of prayer.
We had Baby Boxes for their two daughters on our most recent visit. Christina, the eldest, is deaf but can read lips. Her second baby is due this week. Christina’s younger sister, Trayanka, is very grateful for the Babybox she received. She and her husband are concerned for 40 day-old Sara’s health as she has pneumonia. They were leaving for the hospital when we arrived.
We don’t see it as a coincidence that we visited when we did. We prayed that God would heal baby Sara and asked God to strengthen and bless the whole family.
When leaving their home, we felt that we had received a blessing and a valuable lesson: Joy does not come from possessions, comforts, or the absence of problems. Joy comes from a heart that trusts in the Lord!
