God Provides!
Ivan is a 36-year-old pastor and the newest member of Mission Possible’s Bulgarian team. He is especially responsible for the ministry in the Turkish territories in southern Bulgaria.
(For your information: Ivanov is the most common family name in Eastern Europe.)
Mission Possible supports some of the poorest communities in Bulgaria, and shares the gospel as we help.
Quarantine and restrictions due to COVID-19 brought many Bulgarian families to the verge of poverty and starvation.
Thousands lost their jobs and have been struggling to survive.
The need for food had become so severe
that children were starving in the villages.
In addition to the other essential supplies we distributed, we provided flour so that each family could make their own bread.
My wife Mila and I went to buy 1000 kilos of flour for our community with donated funds we had received from the friends of our ministry. We had asked God to show us the right place to distribute the flour, the place where it was most badly needed.
To our surprise, while in the store we met Bozhidar, a pastor from the village of Sotiria. He told us how hungry the people from his village were. Last month they had some money collected in the church, so they bought some flour, but this month they couldn’t afford to do the same. His helpers had suggested taking out a high interest loan from the bank to buy flour now, and later they would figure out how to pay it back.
As Bozhidar spoke, I could hardly sustain my joy.
God had heard all our prayers and was showing us His answer!
That very evening we were able to distribute bags of flour to fifty families.
The children were leaping with joy around our van and were telling their mothers to hurry up and prepare something to eat!
We also delivered some Baby Boxes and shared the gospel message.
The sight was amazing.
I could see how God provides
what is needed,
and the hearts of the village people
overflowed with gratitude.
