Baby Stoyan Got to Live

by MILA IVANOVA, BULGARIA
The Baby Box Project was born out of a deep need to stand with underprivileged mothers and babies. Every time we deliver one of these packages to a mother and child living in the slums, we convey a powerful message, not only through our words, but through a beautiful, practical gift that says, “You matter. Your life – and your child’s – is precious.” In baby Stoyan’s case, that message did the utmost: it saved his life.
Ten months ago, I brought a Baby Box to a home shared by two brothers, their families, and their mother. The package was for the younger brother’s newborn. The older brother’s wife, Maria, who was pregnant, was also there.
As I explained the contents, everyone listened closely. I shared how God loves each one of them and how He had blessed their family with a new baby. I said that every child is a gift from God, a uniquely valuable life entrusted to their care and protection.
At that, Maria broke down in tears. She confessed that she had been trying to terminate her pregnancy. Her other child was only nine months old and she didn’t feel ready for another one. She had lifted heavy objects and taken medications in hopes of miscarrying, but those attempts were unsuccessful.
I prayed with her. She was genuinely repentant and asked God for His help and strength to carry her baby full term.
Recently, I returned to that same home. I wanted to visit with Maria and bring a Baby Box for her newborn son, Stoyan, who was then just a month old and healthy. He is a joy to both his mother and father. Even more importantly, the family has embraced the salvation God offers through Jesus, and they’ve been encouraged by the miracles He has worked in their lives.
Baby Boxes bless and support new life while sparking hope and transformation through both practical aid and the gospel.
