“My Life has a New Foundation!”

Other Languages:

A once hopeless mother now helps others.

“What should I do? How on earth am I going to survive? Where can I go?” 33-year-old Tatyana wondered. She felt an overwhelming desperation flood her when she realized she was pregnant with her third child.

Life was a mess.

Tatyana had nothing to offer the baby. For that very reason, her two older children had been taken and placed in an orphanage. She had nowhere to call home and no regular income. Tatyana’s numerous bad choices in life had led to these circumstances. Even now, it seemed like she had only bad choices to make: abort the baby or abandon it at the hospital after delivery.

Tatyana was reunited with her children.

A local childcare official advised Tatyana to contact Olga, the director of our Chelyabinsk shelter. Taking that recommendation, Tatyana went to the shelter home and received a warm welcome.

An agreement was reached with the social authorities to bring Tatyana’s two children from the orphanage and permit them to live at the shelter home with her. What a wonderful moment when they were reunited! Together, mother and sons were given a chance for a new start.

Newly found faith and a changed life

The boys were enrolled in the local school, and Tatyana herself became a student. She underwent training to rebuild her life by learning practical skills like cooking, housekeeping, and managing finances. She also received encouragement and coaching for motherhood, which she has wonderfully applied as her third son was born during her stay at the shelter home.

She decided to rebuild her life on a solid foundation when she became a Christian and began attending church services. “I believe God led me here,” says Tatyana.

Serving as a volunteer at the shelter home

Mother and sons are well and have moved into their own home.

Tatyana has decided to volunteer at the shelter home. Through her own difficult experiences, she can relate to the women who arrive. She wants to support and encourage them:

“I know how broken the women who come here are, but I have seen the glory of God and what He is able to do!”
