"Are You an Angel?"
Our goal is not to merely give people material help.
Most importantly, we want to tell them
about Christ so they can experience real transformation.
We were bringing clothes for the children and sharing the gospel in the slum villages. We had already visited a few places, and then we came to Milevo. It was a chilly day. A group of children were waiting for us.
A sad-looking girl stood alone at the door of the house that served as a meeting place for the church. She was in thin clothes and sandals.
– “What is your name, and why are you standing here alone?” I asked the girl.
– “I’m Roza. I have no friends.”
I told her I had been sent to her village to tell her that Jesus loves her infinitely and wants her to be a child of God. Roza began to weep and asked:
– “Are you an angel?”
I was amazed at her question.
–“Every person can choose whether to live like an angel and help others, or whether to live like an ordinary person just for himself.”
– “You are an angel then who helps others, aren’t you?”
A smile rose on Roza’s face. I invited her to join the others and we started the Sunday school lesson. The few words I had said to Roza had convinced her that she, too, was precious and important! She changed in an instant, laughed, and even prayed aloud with us. And of course, she got a package of new clothes.
We can be like angels,
or we can live only for ourselves.
It is our choice, yours and mine.
